عَمَّ يَتَسَاۤءَلُوْنَۚ
'amma yatasā`alụn
OF WHAT ARE they asking one another?
عَنِ النَّبَاِ الْعَظِيْمِۙ
'anin-naba`il-'aẓīm
(Is it) of the great announcement
الَّذِيْ هُمْ فِيْهِ مُخْتَلِفُوْنَۗ
allażī hum fīhi mukhtalifụn
About which they have been differing?
كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُوْنَۙ
kallā saya'lamụn
Indeed they will come to know soon;
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُوْنَ
ṡumma kallā saya'lamụn
They will indeed come to know soon.
اَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْاَرْضَ مِهٰدًاۙ
a lam naj'alil-arḍa mihādā
Did We not make the earth a spreading
وَّالْجِبَالَ اَوْتَادًاۖ
wal-jibāla autādā
The mountains tent-pins?
وَّخَلَقْنٰكُمْ اَزْوَاجًاۙ
wa khalaqnākum azwājā
We created you in pairs
وَّجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًاۙ
wa ja'alnā naumakum subātā
And made sleep for you to rest
وَّجَعَلْنَا الَّيْلَ لِبَاسًاۙ
wa ja'alnal-laila libāsā
The night a covering
وَّجَعَلْنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشًاۚ
wa ja'alnan-nahāra ma'āsyā
And the day for seeking livelihood.
وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًاۙ
wa banainā fauqakum sab'an syidādā
We raised over you several secure (skies)
وَّجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَّهَّاجًاۖ
wa ja'alnā sirājaw wahhājā
And placed a lamp therein brightly burning.
وَّاَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ الْمُعْصِرٰتِ مَاۤءً ثَجَّاجًاۙ
wa anzalnā minal-mu'ṣirāti mā`an ṡajjājā
And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents
لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهٖ حَبًّا وَّنَبَاتًاۙ
linukhrija bihī ḥabbaw wa nabātā
That We may produce from it grain and vegetation
وَّجَنّٰتٍ اَلْفَافًاۗ
wa jannātin alfāfā
And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs.
اِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيْقَاتًاۙ
inna yaumal-faṣli kāna mīqātā
Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement.
يَّوْمَ يُنْفَخُ فِى الصُّوْرِ فَتَأْتُوْنَ اَفْوَاجًاۙ
yauma yunfakhu fiṣ-ṣụri fa ta`tụna afwājā
The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes;
وَّفُتِحَتِ السَّمَاۤءُ فَكَانَتْ اَبْوَابًاۙ
wa futiḥatis-samā`u fa kānat abwābā
The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors
وَّسُيِّرَتِ الْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًاۗ
wa suyyiratil-jibālu fa kānat sarābā
The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage.
اِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًاۙ
inna jahannama kānat mirṣādā
Certainly Hell lies in wait
لِّلطّٰغِيْنَ مَاٰبًاۙ
liṭ-ṭāgīna ma`ābā
The rebels´ abode
لّٰبِثِيْنَ فِيْهَآ اَحْقَابًاۚ
lābiṡīna fīhā aḥqābā
Where they will remain for aeons
لَا يَذُوْقُوْنَ فِيْهَا بَرْدًا وَّلَا شَرَابًاۙ
lā yażụqụna fīhā bardaw wa lā syarābā
Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink
اِلَّا حَمِيْمًا وَّغَسَّاقًاۙ
illā ḥamīmaw wa gassāqā
Except boiling water and benumbing cold:
جَزَاۤءً وِّفَاقًاۗ
jazā`aw wifāqā
A fitting reward.
اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا لَا يَرْجُوْنَ حِسَابًاۙ
innahum kānụ lā yarjụna ḥisābā
They were those who did not expect a reckoning
وَّكَذَّبُوْا بِاٰيٰتِنَا كِذَّابًاۗ
wa każżabụ bi`āyātinā kiżżābā
And rejected Our signs as lies.
وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ اَحْصَيْنٰهُ كِتٰبًاۙ
wa kulla syai`in aḥṣaināhu kitābā
We have kept account of everything in a book.
فَذُوْقُوْا فَلَنْ نَّزِيْدَكُمْ اِلَّا عَذَابًا
fa żụqụ fa lan nazīdakum illā 'ażābā
So taste (the fruit of what you sowed) for We shall add nothing but torment
اِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِيْنَ مَفَازًاۙ
inna lil-muttaqīna mafāzā
As for those who preserve themselves from evil and follow the straight path there is attainment for them:
حَدَاۤىِٕقَ وَاَعْنَابًاۙ
ḥadā`iqa wa a'nābā
Orchards and vineyards
وَّكَوَاعِبَ اَتْرَابًاۙ
wa kawā'iba atrābā
And graceful maidens of the same age
وَّكَأْسًا دِهَاقًاۗ
wa ka`san dihāqā
And flasks full and flowing.
لَا يَسْمَعُوْنَ فِيْهَا لَغْوًا وَّلَا كِذَّابًا
lā yasma'ụna fīhā lagwaw wa lā kiżżābā
They will hear no blasphemies there or disavowals:
جَزَاۤءً مِّنْ رَّبِّكَ عَطَاۤءً حِسَابًاۙ
jazā`am mir rabbika 'aṭā`an ḥisābā
A recompense from your Lord a sufficient gift
رَّبِّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الرَّحْمٰنِ لَا يَمْلِكُوْنَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًاۚ
rabbis-samāwāti wal-arḍi wa mā bainahumar-raḥmāni lā yamlikụna min-hu khiṭābā
The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them most benevolent to whom none may dare address a word.
يَوْمَ يَقُوْمُ الرُّوْحُ وَالْمَلٰۤىِٕكَةُ صَفًّاۙ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُوْنَ اِلَّا مَنْ اَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا
yauma yaqụmur-rụḥu wal-malā`ikatu ṣaffal lā yatakallamụna illā man ażina lahur-raḥmānu wa qāla ṣawābā
The day the Spirit takes its stand with the angels ranged in rows. None will speak except who is permitted by Ar-Rahman and says what is right.
ذٰلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الْحَقُّۚ فَمَنْ شَاۤءَ اتَّخَذَ اِلٰى رَبِّهٖ مَاٰبًا
żālikal-yaumul-ḥaqq, fa man syā`attakhaża ilā rabbihī ma`ābā
That day is certain. So whosoever likes may prepare a way to his Lord.
اِنَّآ اَنْذَرْنٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيْبًا ەۙ يَّوْمَ يَنْظُرُ الْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُوْلُ الْكٰفِرُ يٰلَيْتَنِيْ كُنْتُ تُرَابًا
innā anżarnākum 'ażābang qarībay yauma yanẓurul-mar`u mā qaddamat yadāhu wa yaqụlul-kāfiru yā laitanī kuntu turābā
We have indeed warned you of a calamity near at hand a day when man will see what he had sent (of his deeds) ahead and the unbeliever will say: "Woe alas. Ah would that I were dust!"
