TA SIN MIM.
tilka āyātul-kitābil-mubīn
These are the verses of the perspicuous Book.
You may perhaps wear out your heart because they do not come to belief.
in nasya` nunazzil 'alaihim minas-samā`i āyatan fa ẓallat a'nāquhum lahā khāḍi'īn
We could send down from the heavens a sign to them if We pleased before which their heads would remain bowed.
Never does a new reminder come to them from Ar-Rahman but they turn away from it.
fa qad każżabụ fa saya`tīhim ambā`u mā kānụ bihī yastahzi`ụn
Surely they have done with denying; soon will come to them the news of what they were laughing at.
a wa lam yarau ilal-arḍi kam ambatnā fīhā ming kulli zaujing karīm
Do they not see the earth how We grow all kinds of noble things upon it?
Verily there are signs in this; yet many of them do not believe.
wa inna rabbaka lahuwal-'azīzur-raḥīm
Your Lord is surely mighty and merciful.
wa iż nādā rabbuka mụsā ani`til-qaumaẓ-ẓālimīn
When your Lord called upon Moses: "Go to the wicked people
qauma fir'aụn, alā yattaqụn
The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear and take heed?"
qāla rabbi innī akhāfu ay yukażżibụn
: He said: "O Lord I fear that they will deny me.
wa yaḍīqu ṣadrī wa lā yanṭaliqu lisānī fa arsil ilā hārụn
My heart is constrained my tongue falters so delegate Aaron;
wa lahum 'alayya żambun fa akhāfu ay yaqtulụn
And they have a charge (of murder) against me. So I fear that they will kill me."
qāla kallā, faż-habā bi`āyātinā innā ma'akum mustami'ụn
(It was) said: "By no means. Go with My signs both of you. I am verily with you and I hear.
fa`tiyā fir'auna fa qụlā innā rasụlu rabbil-'ālamīn
Go to the Pharaoh and tell him: ´We bring a message from the Lord of all the worlds
an arsil ma'anā banī isrā`īl
That you should send the children of Israel with us.´
qāla a lam nurabbika fīnā walīdaw wa labiṡta fīnā min 'umurika sinīn
(The Pharaoh) said: "Did we not bring you up as a child? And you lived a number of years of your life with us.
wa fa'alta fa'latakallatī fa'alta wa anta minal-kāfirīn
And you commited what you did and you are ungrateful!"
qāla fa'altuhā iżaw wa ana minaḍ-ḍāllīn
(Moses) replied: "I did do that and I was in the wrong
fa farartu mingkum lammā khiftukum fa wahaba lī rabbī ḥukmaw wa ja'alanī minal-mursalīn
So I ran away from you out of fear. But my Lord has given me wisdom and made me an apostle.
wa tilka ni'matun tamunnuhā 'alayya an 'abbatta banī isrā`īl
But the favour you oblige me with is that you have enslaved the children of Israel."
qāla fir'aunu wa mā rabbul-'ālamīn
The Pharaoh asked: "And what is the Lord of all the worlds?"
qāla rabbus-samāwāti wal-arḍi wa mā bainahumā, ing kuntum mụqinīn
(Moses) said: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them if you can believe."
qāla liman ḥaulahū alā tastami'ụn
(The Pharaoh) said to those around him: "Do you hear?"
qāla rabbukum wa rabbu ābā`ikumul-awwalīn
(Moses continued): "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers before you."
qāla inna rasụlakumullażī ursila ilaikum lamajnụn
(The Pharaoh) said (to his nobles): "Your apostle who has been sent to you is certainly mad."
qāla rabbul-masyriqi wal-magribi wa mā bainahumā, ing kuntum ta'qilụn
(Moses) said: "The Lord of the East and the Lord of the West and all that lies between them if you have sense."
qāla la`inittakhażta ilāhan gairī la`aj'alannaka minal-masjụnīn
(The Pharaoh) said: "If you took another god apart from me I will have you incarcerated."
qāla a walau ji`tuka bisyai`im mubīn
(Moses) said: "Even though I have brought to you something convincing?"
qāla fa`ti bihī ing kunta minaṣ-ṣādiqīn
(The Pharaoh) said: "Then bring it if you speak the truth."
fa alqā 'aṣāhu fa iżā hiya ṡu'bānum mubīn
So (Moses) cast his staff and lo it turned into a living serpent.
wa naza'a yadahụ fa iżā hiya baiḍā`u lin-nāẓirīn
And he drew forth his hand and lo it looked white to the beholders.
qāla lil-mala`i ḥaulahū inna hāżā lasāḥirun 'alīm
The Pharaoh said to the chiefs around him: "He is certainly a clever magician.
yurīdu ay yukhrijakum min arḍikum bisiḥrihī fa māżā ta`murụn
He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic. So what do you bid?"
qālū arjih wa akhāhu wab'aṡ fil-madā`ini ḥāsyirīn
They said: "Put him and his brother off awhile and send summoners to the cities to gather
ya`tụka bikulli saḥḥārin 'alīm
And bring the ablest magicians to you."
fa jumi'as-saḥaratu limīqāti yaumim ma'lụm
So the magicians were assembled at a stated time and place on an appointed day.
wa qīla lin-nāsi hal antum mujtami'ụn
And the people were also asked to assemble.
la'allanā nattabi'us-saḥarata ing kānụ humul-gālibīn
(They said): "We may haply follow the magicians if they are victorious."
fa lammā jā`as-saḥaratu qālụ lifir'auna a inna lanā la`ajran ing kunnā naḥnul-gālibīn
When the magicians arrived they said to the Pharaoh: "Is there a reward for us if we are victorious?" --
qāla na'am wa innakum iżal laminal-muqarrabīn
"Yes " he replied. "You ´will be among the honoured."
qāla lahum mụsā alqụ mā antum mulqụn
Moses said to them: "Cast what you have to cast."
fa alqau ḥibālahum wa 'iṣiyyahum wa qālụ bi'izzati fir'auna innā lanaḥnul-gālibụn
So they cast their ropes and rods and said: "By the glory of Pharaoh we shall be victorious."
fa alqā mụsā 'aṣāhu fa iżā hiya talqafu mā ya`fikụn
Then Moses threw down his staff and lo it swallowed up their conjurations.
fa ulqiyas-saḥaratu sājidīn
Then the magicians fell prostrating in adoration
qālū āmannā birabbil-'ālamīn
And said: "We (affirm and) believe in the Lord of all the worlds
rabbi mụsā wa hārụn
The Lord of Moses and Aaron."
qāla āmantum lahụ qabla an āżana lakum, innahụ lakabīrukumullażī 'allamakumus-siḥr, fa lasaufa ta'lamụn, la`uqaṭṭi'anna aidiyakum wa arjulakum min khilāfiw wa la`uṣallibannakum ajma'īn
Said (the Pharaoh): "You have come to believe in him before I gave you leave. He is surely your chief who taught you magic. You will soon come to know: I will have your hands and feet cut off on alternate sides and have every one of you crucified."
qālụ lā ḍaira innā ilā rabbinā mungqalibụn
They said: "There will be no harm. We shall return to our Lord.
We certainly hope our Lord will forgive our sins as we are the first to believe."
wa auḥainā ilā mụsā an asri bi'ibādī innakum muttaba'ụn
We said to Moses: "Travel by night with My creatures. You will surely be pursued."
fa arsala fir'aunu fil-madā`ini ḥāsyirīn
Then the Pharaoh sent announcers to the cities
inna hā`ulā`i lasyirżimatung qalīlụn
(Proclaiming): "Surely they are a small band (of fugitives).
wa innahum lanā lagā`iẓụn
They are always harassing us.
wa innā lajamī'un ḥāżirụn
But we are a fully accounted army."
fa akhrajnāhum min jannātiw wa 'uyụn
So We made them leave the gardens and springs of water
wa kunụziw wa maqāming karīm
And treasures and agreeable mansions.
każālik, wa auraṡnāhā banī isrā`īl
Thus it was; and We made the children of Israel possess them.
fa atba'ụhum musyriqīn
But they pursued them at sunrise.
fa lammā tarā`al-jam'āni qāla aṣ-ḥābu mụsā innā lamudrakụn
When the two forces drew within seeing distance of each other the people of Moses said: "We shall certainly be overtaken."
qāla kallā, inna ma'iya rabbī sayahdīn
Moses replied: "By no means. My Lord is with me. He will show me the way."
fa auḥainā ilā mụsā aniḍrib bi'aṣākal-baḥr, fanfalaqa fa kāna kullu firqing kaṭ-ṭaudil-'aẓīm
We commanded Moses: "Smite the sea with your staff." And it parted and every parting was like a lofty mountain.
wa azlafnā ṡammal-ākharīn
Then We brought the others to that place.
wa anjainā mụsā wa mam ma'ahū ajma'īn
We delivered Moses and every one with him
ṡumma agraqnal-ākharīn
And We drowned the others.
Verily there is a sign in this but most of them do not believe.
wa inna rabbaka lahuwal-'azīzur-raḥīm
Indeed your Lord is mighty and merciful.
watlu 'alaihim naba`a ibrāhīm
Relate the news of Abraham to them.
iż qāla li`abīhi wa qaumihī mā ta'budụn
When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?"
qālụ na'budu aṣnāman fa naẓallu lahā 'ākifīn
They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them."
qāla hal yasma'ụnakum iż tad'ụn
(Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them?
au yanfa'ụnakum au yaḍurrụn
Or do they benefit you or do you harm?"
qālụ bal wajadnā ābā`anā każālika yaf'alụn
They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so."
qāla a fa ra`aitum mā kuntum ta'budụn
He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping
antum wa ābā`ukumul-aqdamụn
You and your fathers?
fa innahum 'aduwwul lī illā rabbal-'ālamīn
Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds
allażī khalaqanī fa huwa yahdīn
Who created me and showed me the way
wallażī huwa yuṭ'imunī wa yasqīn
Who gives me food and drink
wa iżā mariḍtu fa huwa yasyfīn
And heals me when I am sick
wallażī yumītunī ṡumma yuḥyīn
Who will make me die then give me life again
wallażī aṭma'u ay yagfira lī khaṭī`atī yaumad-dīn
And who I hope will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement.
rabbi hab lī ḥukmaw wa al-ḥiqnī biṣ-ṣāliḥīn
O Lord give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous
waj'al lī lisāna ṣidqin fil-ākhirīn
And uphold my name with posterity
waj'alnī miw waraṡati jannatin-na'īm
And put me among the inheritors of Paradise.
wagfir li`abī innahụ kāna minaḍ-ḍāllīn
Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray.
wa lā tukhzinī yauma yub'aṡụn
And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves
yauma lā yanfa'u māluw wa lā banụn
The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail
illā man atallāha biqalbin salīm
But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart."
wa uzlifatil-jannatu lil-muttaqīn
Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path;
wa burrizatil-jaḥīmu lil-gāwīn
And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray.
wa qīla lahum aina mā kuntum ta'budụn
They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped
min dụnillāh, hal yanṣurụnakum au yantaṣirụn
Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?"
fakubkibụ fīhā hum wal-gāwụn
They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray
wa junụdu iblīsa ajma'ụn
Together with the hordes of Iblis.
qālụ wa hum fīhā yakhtaṣimụn
Disputing among themselves they will say:
tallāhi ing kunnā lafī ḍalālim mubīn
"By God we were plainly in error
iż nusawwīkum birabbil-'ālamīn
In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds;

Never have We destroyed a habitation till We had sent admonishers to them
żikrā, wa mā kunnā ẓālimīn
To warn. For We are never unjust.
wa mā tanazzalat bihisy-syayāṭīn
The devils did not bring it down:
wa mā yambagī lahum wa mā yastaṭī'ụn
They are not worthy of it nor have they power.
innahum 'anis-sam'i lama'zụlụn
They have been precluded from hearing it.
fa lā tad'u ma'allāhi ilāhan ākhara fa takụna minal-mu'ażżabīn
So call on no other god but God lest you are condemned to torment;
wa anżir 'asyīratakal-aqrabīn
And warn your near relations
wakhfiḍ janāḥaka limanittaba'aka minal-mu`minīn
And take those believers under your wing who follow you.
fa in 'aṣauka fa qul innī barī`um mimmā ta'malụn
If they do not obey you tell them: "I am not responsible for what you do."
wa tawakkal 'alal-'azīzir-raḥīm
Have trust in the Mighty the Merciful
allażī yarāka ḥīna taqụm
Who watches you when you get up
wa taqallubaka fis-sājidīn
And your movements among those who bow in homage to God.
innahụ huwas-samī'ul-'alīm
He is all-hearing and all-knowing.
hal unabbi`ukum 'alā man tanazzalusy-syayāṭīn
Should I tell you on whom the devils descend?
tanazzalu 'alā kulli affākin aṡīm
They come down to every mendacious sinner
yulqụnas-sam'a wa akṡaruhum kāżibụn
Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars.
wasy-syu'arā`u yattabi'uhumul-gāwụn
As for the poets only those who go astray follow them.
a lam tara annahum fī kulli wādiy yahīmụn
Have you not seen that they wander distract in every valley
wa annahum yaqụlụna mā lā yaf'alụn
And they say what they do not do
illallażīna āmanụ wa 'amiluṣ-ṣāliḥāti wa żakarullāha kaṡīraw wantaṣarụ mim ba'di mā ẓulimụ, wa saya'lamullażīna ẓalamū ayya mungqalabiy yangqalibụn
Except those who believe and do the right and remember God a great deal who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown!
